Heavy snowfalls create spectacular Lake Tahoe skiing
Old Man Winter has delivered several feet of new snow to Lake Tahoe this week, creating spectacular conditions for Heavenly Mountain Resort (www.skiheavenly.com) and other of the region's 18 downhill ski areas, and more snow is predicted.
Roadways are expected to be easily travelable this weekend and travel from Reno Tahoe International Airport will be convenient via the South Tahoe Express (www.southtahoeexpress.com) motorcoach, which transports skiers from the airport to south shore resort hotel-casinos at Stateline, Nev., including MontBleu Resort, Harrah’s Lake Tahoe Hotel Casino, Harveys Resort Casino, Horizon Casino Resort, Lakeside Inn & Casino, and Embassy Suites hotel in South lake Tahoe.
Heavenly plans to operate all 29 lifts this weekend, Feb. 27-28, providing access to all 4,800 acres of the resort's epic terrain, and is offering an Adventure Session, which teams advanced skiers and snowboarders with similarly skilled enthusiasts and a top guide for quick access to the best terrain and conditions.
Heavenly also operates the Gondola, just one block from the resort-casinos, which whisks skiers and sight-seers to the mountain-top for access to the lifts or sightseeing deck.
