Lake Tahoe Open for the Summer
Celebrate the fourth annual Opening Day at Lake Tahoe June 21-22 with a variety of music, food, art and summertime competions, including the high-flying parasail competition and the ever popular Miss Hawaiian Tropic Northern Nevada State Finals.
Opening Day events include the annual Great Lake Tahoe Sternwheeler Race, which will mark the 25th anniversary of the Tahoe Queen, boat races and the rockin’ Blue Avenue Block Party.
Highway 50 through Stateline on the south shore turns into Blue Avenue in honor of the vividly blue Lake Tahoe and a party ensues with live music, a freestyle Moto-X Rock Show, Harley and hot rod displays, an arts and crafts fair, the Flying Elvi Skydive Team, street performers and a bounce house and climbing wall.
On Saturday night, head over to the Heavenly Village for an after party with music and a sidewalk sale. Then headlining the night’s entertainment is Smokey Robinson performing at MontBleu Resort, Casino and Spa for an additional cost.
There is no charge to attend the block party and to watch most of the weekend’s events. Tickets may be purchased to ride aboard the M.S. Dixie and Tahoe Queen during the sternwheel race. For more information, visit www.bluelaketahoe.com.
