Ski season comes early to southern Nevada

Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort is opening this Friday (Nov. 18), one week before planned.

“Our increased snowmaking capacity as well as recent storms are making it possible for us to be able to open ahead of schedule,” Kevin Stickelman, president and general manager of LVSSR, said in a press release.

The resort, about an hour from the Las Vegas Strip, has three lifts, 16 trails and a freestyle terrain park. Last summer, Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort won initial federal approval for a plan to expand the ski area to nearly 500 acres over the next 10 years.
