Thanksgiving Feast of Snow
The weekend snowstorm brought 8-10 inches of new snow and plenty of excitement to the Tahoe ski resorts and skiers alike. The cold overnight temperatures have also allowed for snowmaking, adding to the accumulations from the recent storm. And to top it off, the sun will be shining this week, making it perfect for enjoying your Thanksgiving holiday on the slopes.
Your holiday getaway planning couldn't get any easier. Heavenly Mountain Resort is offering a vacation package that includes two days of lifts and lodging, cooked-to-order breakfasts daily and a Thanksgiving feast. But If you're looking for more a-la-carte options, Mt. Rose-Ski Tahoe, Northstar-at-Tahoe, Squaw Valley USA, and Boreal Mountain Resort are all open and most are offering reduced rates – check with the resorts for restrictions and blackout periods. And don't forget the Thanksgiving buffets at the casino-resorts in South Lake Tahoe and Reno.
As the snow continues to fly, more resorts will be opening. Alpine Meadows Ski Resort is set to open on Saturday, December 5 and Diamond Peak Ski Resort will start its lifts on Thursday, December 10.
