This sizable pocket of lofty peaks and deep canyons shoulders the southwestern side of Ely. The southernmost Quinn Canyon Range gives way to the Grant Range, where Troy Peak dominates the landscape.
The remote 82,000-acre Mt. Moriah Wilderness offers hikers unpopulated trails like Hendry's Creek, an arduous trek nearly to the top of the 12,067' Mt. Moriah, Nevada's fifth highest peak. Explorers frequent "The Table," a 1,000-acre plateau covered with ancient bristlecone and other vegetation.
