The Nevada State Park System acquired 3,200 acres along the Carson River in 1994 connecting Fort Churchill State Historic Park with Lahontan State Recreation Area. This scenic river corridor with diverse wildlife and terrain is a popular area for equestrians. The park also offers a horse camp where riders can camp with their mounts near Lake Lahontan.
Getting There: Fort Churchill is located along the Carson River, 8 miles south of Silver Springs on U.S. Alt. 95. The park is 40 miles east of Carson City and 36 miles west of Fallon.
