Sierra-at-Tahoe Ski Resort

Twin Bridges, California 95735
In its 60-plus year history, Sierra-at-Tahoe has transformed into one of the largest resort areas at Lake Tahoe and has earned its reputation as a great all-around resort. Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort’s backcountry cat tours take expert skiers and riders straight to the edge of Huckleberry Canyon, allowing enthusiasts to save energy, and 30-40 minutes, for those deep powder turns, by-passing the one and a half mile hike out to the gates.
Stretching 2,000 skiable acres and boasting a vertical rise of 2,212 feet from its base altitude of 6,640 feet, Sierra-at-Tahoe is home to 46 exciting slopes and trails and has something for everyone. The mountain’s impressive vertical drop makes for some challenging and exhilarating runs, such as Sugar ‘n’ Spice, the resort’s longest trail at two-and-a-half miles. Three quarters of the trails rank as intermediate and advanced, with the remaining quarter designated for beginners. Three express quad lifts, one triple lift, five double chairs, and five surface lifts serve the mountain. But Sierra-at-Tahoe has far more to offer its guests than just great runs. The mountain boasts eight terrain parks including the Burton Progression Park, Smokey Boarder X, and TransWorld Snowboarding Top 10 Superpipe.
Sierra-at-Tahoe is also known for its tubing hill, Blizzard Mountain, which features 245 feet of lightning-fast packed snow, rollers and high-banked turns. Other amenities at the resort include three maintained miles of snowshoe trails with interpretive signs and scenic hideaways, as well as five backcountry gates that offer extreme skiers and riders access to some of the steepest, deepest terrain in the region. The resort also features on-mountain themed adventure zones with various signage, sound effects and smoke machines, just for kids. From treehouses, caves and secret hideaways to banked turns and mini jumps, the zones are designed to keep kids entertained while educating them about local history and native wildlife.
As advanced as some of the mountain may be, Sierra-at-Tahoe is still a great place for beginners. The resort offers a selection of lesson packages that are designed for first-timers, beginners or intermediate skiers and snowboarders. There are four Adventure Zones just for kids. The highly successful Yoda's Riglet Park has been expanded to include a Burton Star Wars Echo Base giving kids ages 7-12 the opportunity to quickly learn how to snowboard by incorporating terrain-based teaching. Burton's proven Learn to Ride methods incorporate iconic Star Wars characters.
More than $4.5 million was just invested in a new base area facility and adjacent plaza adding 9,000+ square feet of retail space, demo centers, and restaurants. The expansion includes a new sun deck with comfy lounge chairs and cozy fire pits. The venue will be the site of a new Spring Concert Series pug on in conjunction with OnCourse Events and Tahoe South showcasing top touring acts from around the area.
