Las Vegas - Wild & Scenic Festival

This year’s lineup of films includes “A Skier’s Journey,” documenting an exhilarating ski trip to the frozen fjords of Northwest Baffin Island; “Chasing Water,” photographer Pete McBride’s intimate look at the Colorado River watershed; and “Someplace with a Mountain,” the story of a small group of island atolls whose residents were not aware that rising sea levels will soon swallow their homes.

The Historic 5th Street School is located at 401 S. Fourth St. in Las Vegas. There will be music, refreshments, environmental displays, free swag and raffle tickets sold for cool products from Osprey, Patagonia and other outdoor retailers. Doors open at 6 p.m. Oct. 25 and the films show at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $10 for adults ($12 at the door) and $5 for students.(Visit website) 

The Wild & Scenic Film Festival is a fundraiser for the Nevada Wilderness Project. NWP has been protecting the wild places of Nevada since 1999, working for wildlife habitat conservation and wild lands preservation.
