Reno - Icons of NV: Biggest Little Art ShowAdd to my Trip Planner
Dec 4, 2013 - Jan 3, 2014
Sierra Arts Foundation’s biannual Biggest Little Art Show, celebrating miniature format works since 1994, explores the concept of “Icons of NV” in this year’s exhibition running December 4 through January 3. The show features work from 40 artists representing, re-imagining, and rediscovering icons of Nevada using a playing card-sized canvas, board, or paper at 2.25 inches by 3.25 inches.
According to original Biggest Little Art Show creator Jim McCormick initial response to such a pint-sized show was one of disbelief from artists. That soon turned to fevered interest, with 120 submissions the first year, when four square inches defined the parameters.
While the work has grown-up, measuring just over seven square inches now, the obstacles and the joy of this show remain the same.

Who was John C. Frémont? To some he was a villain. Others see him as a hero and pioneer of Manifest Destiny who opened the West to settlement.View details
