Tens of thousands of people gather in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert to create Black Rock City, a temporary metropolis dedicated to community, art, self-reliance and self-expression. In Black Rock City, you won’t be the weirdest kid in the classroom and you’ll become a part of the growing community of Burners who are active year-round.
Burning Man is a practice in community, an annual gathering of 65,000 "Burners" who meet in the Black Rock Desert of Northern Nevada to create art, exchange ideas, and participate in the burning of the Man, a symbol whose meaning is as varied as the attendees themselves.
To truly understand this event, one must particpate. However, click here for eloquent overview of this experimental community, which challenges its members to express and rely on themselves to a degree that is not normally encountered in one's day-to-day life.

This year’s theme is about mirrors and masks, mazes and merger. It will be a kind of magic show that takes the form of an old-fashioned carnival. This Carnival of Mirrors asks three essential questions: within our media-saturated world, where products and people, consumption and communion morph into an endlessly diverting spectacle, who is the trickster, who is being tricked, and how might we discover who we really are?
Check back this summer to see a variety of lodging choices and promotional rates for Burners. It's an opportunity to prepare for, or rejuvenate from, your the trek in the Black Rock Desert.
