The essence of historic Virginia City isn’t just its wooden board sidewalks, its antique shops and 19th century buildings, but it’s the flavors and smells that immerse visitors from the moment they step out of their cars or off the train. Whether it’s the sweet smell of waffle cones and chocolate from Grandma’s Fudge Factory, the unmistakable scent of a juicy hotdog emanating from the Ponderosa Saloon, or buttery popcorn popping in the Visitors Center, the town is full of tantalizing flavors. Taste of the Comstock, taking place June 20 and Aug. 29, 2015 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., offers guests a chance to sample all of the town’s favorite flavors.
For $20 in advance or $25 day-of, attendees receive a wrist band and map to all participating locations where samples of the best and most unique fare are available. Locations include the Roasting House, Mustang Ranch Steakhouse, Virginia City Brewery and Taphouse and many more. Free transportation is provided to participating locations including the newly renovated Crown Point Restaurant inside the Gold Hill Hotel. To purchase tickets, visit online.
