Industry Partners Newsletter - Sales
The Sales and Industry Partners staff continues to sell Nevada to consumers and industry professionals through participation in trade and travel shows, sales missions, and FAMs; and work with our industry partners to promote rural Nevada through the territories, Rural Roundup, and the grant programs.
We attended the International Pow Wow trade show in Los Angeles in April. More than 90 appointments were attended. The top two countries we met with were the UK and Germany, and the most increased over previous years were South Korea and Brazil. Pow Wow will take place in Las Vegas next year and we will have the privilege of planning and hosting six post-FAM trips for these buyers, which will include itineraries for all six territories.
Staff also attended travel shows and sales missions in Canada, Germany, Brazil and South Korea, participated in Active America China in Minneapolis, staffed a booth at the Utah and Sacramento Pride Festivals, and participated in a sales mission to Australia. We participated in and co-sponsored several FAMs, including the annual RSCVA Ski FAM, the LTVA Mountain Travel Symposium pre-FAM, and the LVCVA/NCOT LGBT FAM.
Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Casino and Spa in Incline Village was the host for the 22nd annual Rural Roundup, which boasted a near-record attendance of 260 delegates. Highlights included a welcome reception showcasing “Made in Nevada” businesses, general and concurrent sessions featuring the latest trends in the tourism industry, and the VolunTourism Awards dinner honoring tourism volunteers from around the state. Speaker presentations are available on the Rural Roundup website. Pahrump will host next year’s conference.
