Deputy Director of Marketing and Advertising - Nevada Commission on Tourism

Ms. JoLyn Laney is the deputy director of marketing and advertising for the Nevada Commission on Tourism (NCOT), the state agency responsible for marketing Nevada as a travel destination. In this position, she is responsible for the development and execution of the agency’s marketing goals and strategies, budgets, and day-to-day operations. She oversees the marketing, advertising, interactive, and research initiatives.

Under Ms. Laney’s direction, NCOT successfully balances traditional and emerging media to promote Nevada as a premier travel destination. The paradigm shift from traditional to emerging media accompanied by a slumping economy fostered a more efficient and targeted online strategy for NCOT. This new strategy resulted in record-breaking results for NCOT's advertising efforts generating the strongest ROI in the history of organization.

Google has recently partnered with the Nevada Commission on Tourism on two case studies that showcased NCOT’s effective use of the Google Display Network and Google’s In-Stream Video. Ms. Laney was also featured in Direct Magazine for lead acquisition strategies, and for search engine optimization. Additionally, Dotmobi recognized NCOT for being the first state to launch a two-letter domain on the mobile web, and featured them for their aggressive mobile promotions in the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) stations in San Francisco, California.

Prior to serving as the deputy director of marketing and advertising, Ms. Laney held the position of senior marketing manager for NCOT. During her 19-year career in the tourism industry, she has held marketing positions at Caesars Tahoe and the Winnemucca Convention and Visitors Authority, and has worked with small businesses as a marketing consultant. Ms. Laney is an accredited Google Professional.
