Many Lake Tahoe ski resorts are known for their spectacular lake views, but only Homewood Mountain Resort earns a nod for its flawlessly maintained “peak-to-shore” trails. With the resort situated mere steps from the lake’s western shoreline, the views on all 60 runs are as dramatic as one would expect. Liftopia.com rated Homewood the #1 Scenic Resort View in North America in 2012.
Homewood’s classic mountain experience is characterized by its expansive groomed boulevards and trademark powder stashes. The resort’s expansive layout measures more than 1,260 acres of some of the leading skiing and snowboarding terrain in the Sierra Nevada. Seven lifts, including a new high-speed quad, service Homewood’s 60 runs, with more than three-quarters designated for intermediate to advanced skiers and riders. With a base elevation of 6,230 feet, Homewood boasts an impressive 1,650 vertical feet of mountain on which to play. And speaking of playing, terrain park lovers will find two dedicated parks in which to frolic. Lakeview Park is ideal for aspiring shredders, thanks to three small roller jumps that are just right for beginners. More experienced riders will find intermediate jumps, funboxes and rails at Shredwood Park, which is regularly updated throughout the season.
Beginner skiers and snowboarders will feel right at home at Homewood Mountain Resort. Not only is the mountain very family-friendly, it offers truly impressive instruction programs. Children will benefit from the very successful SnowSports School, while adults can choose from group lessons, private instruction or specialized camp-style clinics. Children under 4 ski free! Other amenities at Homewood include state-of-the-art ski and snowboard rentals, five fantastic on-mountain restaurants and a base lodge filled with shops. A range of accommodations can be found within a five-minute drive to the resort.
As impressive as the property is today, it’s only going to get better. Homewood Mountain Resort awaiting final approval of a multi-million dollar expansion plan that will include new lifts, a new mid-moutain day lodge, and a completely overhauled base area complete with a 75-room boutique hotel, and ~25,000 square feet of retail space.
