Just over a decade old, the Rio Secco Golf Club has seen award after award since opening in 1997. Listed among Golfweek’s 2007 lists of “America’s 100 Best Resort Courses” and “America’s 40 Best Casino Courses,” Rio Secco also earned four stars and “Best Golf Instructor in the World” from Golf Digest . The award-winning course was designed by celebrated golf architect Rees Jones, who skillfully incorporated multiple tee placements, elevation drops and smooth greens into the 7,332-yard layout. The Rio Secco course is maintained to PGA Tour standard and is wonderfully diverse, playing through steep canyons, across a plateau with fantastic city views of Las Vegas and in a wide desert wash. Set in the Black Mountain foothills roughly 800 feet above the valley floor, the course is both stylish and challenging.
The renowned teaching facility at Rio Secco is run by none other than Butch Harmon, former coach to Tiger Woods. One, two and three day golf schools area available. A Harrah’s Entertainment, Inc., property, Rio Secco Golf Club is open to guests from all hotels in the Las Vegas and Henderson area. And as it’s just a 15 minute trip from the Las Vegas Strip, it’s little wonder that the course is a favorite to residents and visitors alike.
