The Sunridge Golf Club in the picturesque Carson Valley is a quaint golf course with scenic views from every hole. The course stretches just over 6,900 yards and is a thoughtful mix of holes in open meadows, over strategic water elements including lakes and waterfalls and on dramatic hillsides. The 18-hole course carves through the hills and sagebrush along the Carson River, adjacent to the sprawling housing development of Sunridge. The first nine holes of the par-72 course are on the flatter part of the course, with rock-lined lakes adding to the challenge. The last leg of the back nine heads uphill through hazardous rocks and sagebrush, taking the course from tricky to truly challenging. The most notorious hole on the impeccably manicured Sunridge course is the 406-yard 14th, a par-4 that shoots downhill to a split fairway.
The difficult Sunridge course has garnered high praise and high condemnation, with many considering the course either an enjoyable challenge or impossibly devious. Either way, the Sunridge Golf Club is certainly memorable. And with its five sets of tees, it’s designed to be playable by a range of golfers. Lessons are also available from the PGA professionals on staff.
