The natural desert terrain in West Wendover is rocky and unforgiving, which is why golfers playing a round at the Toana Vista Golf Course will want to do their best to stay on the greens. Not only can the rugged natural landscape wreak havoc on new irons, but the Homer Flint-designed course boasts a range of incredibly memorable elements and holes that golfers shouldn’t miss. The eleventh hole is a downhill par three of just 159 to 185 yards, but the notorious winds will direct miscalculated shots straight into the tranquil pond guarding the green. The very next shot is a classic risk-reward scenario set against a tricky water hazard lined with railroad ties. Another challenging hole on the target-oriented Toana Vista Golf Course boasts a hidden water hazard. As a whole, the 6,990-yard, par-72 course incorporates narrow fairways, small, well-bunkered greens and strategically situated water features. The rocky waste areas and devious desert winds at Toana Vista can certainly affect a golfer’s score, but a round here is nevertheless memorable. In addition to its truly unparalleled course, Toana Vista is home to practice facilities that include a driving range, putting green and practice bunkers. The pro shop carries a selection of golfing accessories, apparel and equipment, and a snack bar is also on-site.
