The history of Washoe County Golf Course is as interesting as the course itself. Founded in 1917 by Mrs. Gourtley Dunn Webb as a members-only facility, the course opened to the public shortly after the Great Depression. The player-friendly Washoe course has played host to past professional tournaments, with the great Ben Hogan among its champions. Affectionately known among regulars as “The Shoe,” Washoe County Golf Course has only blossomed with time. The superbly conditioned course, which measures 6,695 yards from the back tees for a par of 72, has never played better. The nicely-maintained and mature layout at Washoe Country Golf Course features three sets of tee boxes, making it playable for both the seasoned golfer and the beginner.
Practice facilities at Washoe County Golf Course include a generous putting green, driving range and chipping area with practice bunkers. Personalized instruction on an individual or group basis is available from the resident PGA professional for those players looking to brush up on their game. Guests at the Washoe course will also find a newly remodeled pro shop with the latest in golf accessories and apparel. And after an enjoyable around on the historic and friendly Washoe County Golf Course, golfers can relax with a meal from the on-site restaurant.
