Home to what may be the toughest hole in southern Nevada, according to VegasGolfer magazine, Wildhorse Golf Club in Henderson is a par-70 championship course and a true local’s favorite. The devious ninth hole, a par four that measures nearly 400 yards, is a challenge to even the most seasoned player. The signature hole is a tricky combination of water hazards and well-guarded fairways, demanding length and placement off the tee. It’s a hole that keeps players coming back for more. The original Wildhorse course, built in 1959, was one of the first golf courses in Nevada. It was redesigned in 2004 by the famed duo Brian Curley and Lee Schmidt. A former host to the PGA Tour, including the Sahara Invitational, Wildhorse Golf Club is characterized by its shimmering lakes, beautiful design and affordable price, making it a hit with the locals. The well-maintained and stylish course ranked among Golf Digest’s “Places to Play” in both 2006 and 2007. Other amenities at Wildhorse include the Wildhorse Golf Academy, featuring PGA professional instruction, a restaurant, full-service pro shop and banquet facilities. The generous practice area includes a natural turf driving range, a chipping and pitching green with a sand bunker and a putting green.
