Cave Rock y las \u00e1reas circundantes, un elemento natural del lago Tahoe desde hace miles de a\u00f1os, son sagradas para la tribu Washoe. Una vez que los yacimientos de oro de California y la veta Comstock atrajeron a miles de personas hacia el oeste, el \u00e1rea que rodea Cave Rock se convirti\u00f3 en un obst\u00e1culo para el transporte a orillas del lago.
