SUMMARY:Burning Man
DESCRIPTION:Each year\, upwards of 75\,000 revelers from all over the world transform Nevada’s Black Rock Desert into a bustling\, temporary metropolis. Attendees (aka Burners) traverse the playa and discover interactive art\, themed camps\, and an inclusive community. \n\n\n\n\nBurning Man Dates: Aug. 30–Sept. 7\, 2026\n\n\n\nWhere is Burning Man: Black Rock City\, which only exists for the duration of the event. The closest Nevada city is Gerlach. \n\n\n\nWhat is Burning Man: A gathering of artists\, creators\, and community builders who turn the Black Rock Desert into Black Rock City for just over a week\, roughly 120 miles north of Reno. \n\n\n\n2026 Burning Man Theme: Axis Mundi envisions The Man as “[Burning Man’s] version of the cosmic tree\, a Jacob’s Ladder connecting us to the unseen and unknowable.”\n\n\n\n\nBefore you head to Black Rock City\, dive into our Burning Man Survival Guide to get answers to FAQs as well as learn what to expect and what to pack. \n\n\n\nBurning Man Ticket Information\n\n\n\nBurning Man sells various types of tickets on a first-come\, first-served basis\, and they often sell out. The Main Sale is the big one to watch for: These tickets are open to everyone\, and those hoping to attend will need to register in advance of the ticket window opening. Payment plans are available\, and you’ll also need to purchase a vehicle pass. \n\n\n\nAdditional ticket programs are available for limited-income Burners and people who have been impacted by natural disasters or geopolitical conflict. Get complete ticketing dates and details from Burning Man Project’s website. \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n Travel Nevada Pro Tip \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n You cannot buy Burning Man tickets at the gate. Everything—tickets\, vehicle passes\, and transportation—must be secured in advance. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nHow Much Do Burning Man Tickets Cost?\n\n\n\nMain Sale tickets range from $550 to $3\,000\, plus taxes and fees. All vehicles (except for motorcycles and towed vehicles) require a $165 pass. During the Main Sale\, attendees can purchase a maximum of two tickets and one vehicle pass while available. For those who qualify for Burning Man’s limited-income program\, tickets are $250 and vehicle passes are $75 (plus taxes and fees). \n\n\n\nFor anyone who misses tickets during the Main Sale\, Burning Man has a secure ticket exchange program (STEP) for reselling and purchasing authentic event tickets. \n\n\n\nHow to Get to Burning Man \n\n\n\nBy Car: Most Burners take I-80 from Reno-Sparks to Fernley or Wadsworth and then hop onto Nevada State Route 447 toward Gerlach. Expect the entrance gate to take anywhere from 2-10 hours. Travel prepared with water and snacks for the crawl. \n\n\n\nBy Bus: The Burner Express is an option for anyone with a Burning Man ticket. Bus service takes Burners from San Francisco and Reno to Black Rock City and back. Riding the bus also comes with perks\, including speedier entrance into the event\, reserved camping\, and expedited departures. Tickets go on sale in May with additional fees for bikes and extra luggage. \n\n\n\nBy Plane: The closest airport to Burning Man is Reno-Tahoe International Airport. Burner Express Air (BxA) also offers charter service from southern California\, the Bay Area\, and Reno to Black Rock City Municipal Airport (88NV). Like the Burner Express bus\, there’s an extra ticket required for this\, plus additional luggage limitations.
