Set against wide-open desert horizons\, this event celebrates celestial views with guided stargazing\, astronomy talks\, educational activities\, and plenty of reasons to look up after sunset. \n\n\n\nDiscover a whole new side of Lahontan State Recreation Area beneath dark skies\, with guided stargazing\, astronomy talks\, and educational activities after sunset. \n\n\n\nVisitors can expect night sky programming that highlights constellations\, planets\, and deep-sky objects. Astronomy talks also explore the science behind Nevada’s dark skies and what makes places like Lahontan so rewarding for stargazers. \n\n\n\nLahontan State Recreation Area is one of the region’s standout places for astronomy and astrophotography thanks to low light pollution and wide-open viewing conditions. On clear nights\, visitors may be able to spot celestial sights such as the Andromeda Galaxy\, Orion Nebula\, planets\, and bright constellations. \n\n\n\nTo help preserve night vision during the event\, red light is recommended. Flashlights may be converted at check-in when supplies are available.  \n\n\n\nEntrance fees for Lahontan State Recreation Area are $5 per vehicle ($10 for non-Nevadan vehicles).
