There’s no better place to spend Valentine’s Day than Lovelock, otherwise known as the "Heart of Nevada."
People from all over flock to the small, agriculturally driven community of Lovelock each year to follow the ancient Chinese tradition of locking their love.
At Lover’s Lock Plaza, in the heart of downtown Lovelock, visitors can purchase a heart-shaped lock and forever lock it to a chain with your soul mate, family member, friend, or anyone else that’s important in your life.
Near Valentine’s Day, each year’s festivities include a tribute to the search and rescue crews who worked for more than two days in sub-zero temperatures to find a missing Lovelock family whose Jeep had overturned while they were out exploring. The Lovers Aloft Hot Air Balloon Race is also part of the Inaugural Nevada State Balloon Championship Series.
Several Valentine’s Day-themed events are typically planned for this unique annual event, including a Murder-Mystery luncheon, Renewal of Marriage Vows, Locking Your Love in Lover’s Lock Plaza and, of course, the Lover’s Aloft Balloon Race and Rides.
