Genoa Country Store & The Dancing Deer Gift Shop
Get to know Nevada’s oldest town one small business at a time, starting with the Genoa Country Store & Dancing Deer situated right in the heart of historic Genoa. Right across the street from the Genoa Bar & Saloon, grab a homemade meal, or grab something to go from a nearly complete market brimming with snacks and refreshments of all kinds. Next door, take home your own piece of the Silver State from one of our fave gift shops in Nevada, with great finds like jewelry made from locally mined turquoise and more.
In a town dating back to 1851—officially Nevada’s oldest—the building the Genoa Country Store and Dancing Deer lives in has has quite a history, first opening as a boarding house for Italian workers in the 1800s. The business within has changed over the years—ranging from hotel, to bars, markets, and even a U.S. Post Office, and has operated as the Genoa Country Store & Dancing Deer Gift Shop since 1999.
Both businesses are under the same locally owned and operated management, and while you can access both from separate, exterior entrances, the Genoa Country Store and Dancing Deer Gift Shop are connected by an interior breezeway. During the winter months grab a turkey melt and settle into cozy tables indoors, and in the summer months grab an ice cream sandwich or frosty beer and head for patio seating out front. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick treat or staying awhile, make the Genoa Country Store & Dancing Deer Gift Shop part of your Carson Valley discoveries.
