Rail Explorers, the year-round, all-ages, outdoor adventure attraction features pedal-powered rail bikes on the historic rails of the Nevada State Railroad Museum—Boulder City.
Rail Explorers offers exciting tours which combine our pedal powered Rail Explorers and a ride on a historic train, at the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Boulder City. “The Southwest Ramble” is an exhilarating 4 mile downhill pedal powered ride from the station to Railroad Pass. Plus you get to ride the train and ride in the outdoor open car on the way back for the uphill return journey. Bring a snack and a drink to enjoy during the 15 minute break at our rail-side picnic area. Then, enjoy a ride back to the top of the hill in one of the Museum’s historic trains (included in ticket price).
All tickets include entry to the Nevada Southern Railroad Museum, Boulder City, where you can explore the Museum’s extensive grounds with many rare and unusual locomotives that were important to the construction of the nearby Hoover Dam.
Know Before You Go
At Rail Explorers safety is our first priority, so all tours have a trained guide at the front and in the last rail explorer. Tours depart on a set schedule, but all riders are spread out, with up to 200ft between you and those in front and behind. The front and rear guides ensure that everyone arrives safely, but the distance between the bikes allows everyone to go at their own pace and enjoy the magic of riding the rails in solitude.
