Ski

Nevada means “snow-covered” in Spanish, and with more than 33 feet of snow annually at some ski resorts, it delivers. Unlike other ski destinations in the West, Nevada keeps the excitement going 24 hours a day.

With more than 24,000 acres of skiing at 18 resorts, Lake Tahoe is one of the premier ski destinations in the world. The North Shore of Tahoe, home to 12 resorts, has plenty of lodging options. It is also less than an hour away from Reno, and with shuttles offered from most of Reno's major hotels to the resorts, staying down the mountain is as easy as it can be. Stateline is your place if the South Shore is where you're looking to head.

When the ski lifts close, experience one of the dozens of fine restaurants dotting the region or enjoy an après ski cocktail and appetizers. The options are as limitless as the skiing. The excitement continues after dinner at some of the hottest clubs in the country, right in the heart of Tahoe at Stateline. Dance the night away at VEX at Harrah's or rock out with the Red Rocker Sammy Hagar at Cabo Wabo Cantina in Harveys Lake Tahoe. Rejuvinate and relax at Onsen Spa at MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa. You might even want to include a day off the slopes to enjoy one of the numerous other winter activities available.

Be sure to check out Mt.Rose-Ski Tahoe with its high-energy terrain parks and special events. Make it a family affair at Diamond Peak, the ideal resort for those just learning to ski, with programs and a child ski center specially designed for those aged 3-7. For a high-speed thrill that doesn’t make your legs burn, try snowmobiling or take the family ice skating at Northstar or Squaw Valley USA. Heavenly’s gondola ride from the shores of the lake to the top of the mountain gives you a stellar view of the lake over the top of glittering lights of Tahoe’s Vegas-style casinos. You can even get on the water for a dinner cruise aboard the Tahoe Queen or MS Dixie II.

The adventure doesn’t stop at the skiing mecca of Lake Tahoe. Make your own trail in Elko’s Ruby Mountains with a heli-skiing excursion. The unspoiled wilderness and untouched powder of eastern Nevada is an experience you will remember the rest of your life. Even the south gets into the action with a ski resort less than an hour north of the Las Vegas Strip.

It isn’t like Nevada has a monopoly on the white stuff; we just know how to enjoy it better than the rest. See you on the slopes!
