Nevada Gift Guide

Between the big gifting holidays, special occasions, and the “I saw this and knew you had to have it!” moments, everyone needs a little shopping inspiration. Enter the Nevada Gift Guide: your one-stop shop for anything-but-ordinary goods and experiences you won’t find anywhere else.

Inside, you’ll find a variety of categories for Nevada-made items—like desert pottery, mined-right-here jewelry, and handcrafted chocolates—and adventures like hot spring retreats, foodie tours, and on-the-water outings. And while you’re at it, don’t forget to pick something up for yourself.

Antique Shopping

The Silver State is full of surprises, especially when it comes to perusing the past. In northern Nevada, you’ll find places to shop in Reno, Virginia City, and Carson Valley. The Biggest Little City’s hip MidTown District is home to local favorites like Midtown Antiques and Junkee Clothing Exchange (which also operates Uncle Junkee). The Nest is a favorite for vintage furniture and décor, while the El Rancho Swap Meet is an open-air market that pops up every weekend.

Carson Valley Arts & Antiques Trail

Roughly half an hour from Reno, Virginia City has a handful of antique stores. Stroll the Old West town’s wooden boardwalk to shop all kinds of collectibles. Treasure seekers can also head for the idyllic Carson Valley to follow the Arts & Antiques Trail, which features art galleries, historical markers, and museums.

Of course, northern Nevada isn’t the only place to channel your inner treasure hunter. Visitors will also find incredible antique stores in Las Vegas. Downtown Las Vegas has Antique Alley Mall and ReBAR, which bills itself as “the only bar where everything’s for sale.” Other popular spots include the Antique Mall of America and Charleston Antique Mall, where shoppers might find everything from mid-century kitchen wares to antique pocket watches.

Luxury Stores & Outlet Malls

Indulge in extravagant shopping on the Las Vegas Strip. The Shops at Crystals is the ultimate destination for luxury brands like Balenciaga, Fendi, Hermes, Cartier, and Versace. Fashion Show Las Vegas is another premium destination on The Strip, featuring Louis Vuitton, Savage x Fenty, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Zara.

If you prefer shopping for your favorite brands at bargain prices, you’ll find outlets conveniently located near two major Vegas destinations. Las Vegas North Premium Outlets is near Downtown Las Vegas, while Las Vegas South Premium Outlets is on the south end of The Strip. Both options have stores like Coach, Nike, Kate Spade, Lacoste, and Timberland. Up north in Sparks, the Outlets at Legends is your go-to for open-air shopping. Retailers here include H&M, Levi’s, Guess, Scheels, and Sephora.

Pioche’s historic Gem Theater was almost lost to time and bad weather but a passionate group of people are bringing her back to life!

This beautiful art deco building was constructed in 1937 with a single screen and 250 seats. Movies played here up until 2002 when a windstorm severely damaged the roof. The building shuttered and fell into disrepair.

Fast forward to 2020, when two Nevada history lovers bought the building and formed a Friends group to renovate and reopen the old theater.

Since then, the building has been listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Museum professionals worked to catalog all the objects inside the theater from old reels to popcorn machines. And, perhaps most exciting, the marquee is illuminated once more!

Congrats to all the people committed to preserving this piece of Nevada history! I can’t wait to see inside it someday. 🎥

Swipe for more springs content👀
The last photo* shows the endangered fish that call these springs its home, and the video* at the end has a lovely birdsong if you turn on the sound.
Let me tell you, it is super hard to get a photo of a fish from above the water’s surface, but I did my best so I could always remember being able to see an endangered species in its natural habitat. A very cool thing to witness, and I think the parks service has done an amazing job spreading information around the park and making the springs easy to view, while also keeping these animals and their habitat protected and healthy❤️

I think I said before that this location was on my bucket list for a WHILE, and my mom’s visit was the perfect time to make it happen. I love being able to experience new places with my favorite people- it makes the memories all the more special ❤️

After a few trip plans didn’t work out tom.m.schroeder and I ended up with bikes in the northern Nevada desert camped next to a hot spring. The biking was epic and couldn’t ask for a better campsite. On the way home we did a ride near Mount Shasta, California that also did not disappoint. #gravelbike #nevada #blackrockdesert #mountshasta #camping
Wrapping up #NationalParkWeek with an incredible lesser-known park that we visited for the first time last year.

📍Great Basin National Park (Nevada)

Great Basin isn't a national park that you hear a whole lot about, but we were so impressed!

⛺We visited in August 2023 and camped in Wheeler Peak Campground within the park. The campground is at the top of Wheeler Peak Scenic Drive, sitting at 9,500 feet above sea level. This has been one of our all-time favorite camping experiences. The sites were well-spaced, and the views were incredible! We also liked that we could walk from our campsite to the trailhead for several of the Wheeler Peak area trails.

🥾During our visit, we went on two hikes in the Wheeler Peak area. We hiked the Alpine Lakes Loop trail the afternoon/evening we arrived and enjoyed some sunset views on the trail. The next morning, we hiked the Glacier Trail, which also took us past Bristlecone Grove.

🔦Great Basin NP is home to Lehman Caves. The only way to tour the caves is by purchasing a ticket for a ranger-led tour. Two tours are offered. We chose the longer one, which was 90 minutes long. While it's not the biggest or the longest cave we've been in, I felt like it had some of the most impressive cave formations!

RIVIERA STARDUST | THE NEON MUSEUM, LAS VEGAS

One of the highlights of my trip to Las Vegas was exploring the Neon Museum in the downtown area. There is so much Vegas history in these old signs. I highly recommend a visit here if you are visiting.
