The Jesse Hotel & Bar

Paying homage to Jesse Reno—Reno’s namesake—The Jesse Reno is an independently owned, urban boutique inn, local bar and restaurant located right in the heart of the Biggest Little City. Offering an intimate ambiance and personalized service ideal for travelers seeking an inspirational experience through art, design and cuisine. With six contemporary rooms with a reimagined historical flair, The Jesse boasts a bar and patio lounge featuring a modern cocktail menu, natural and organic wines, locally crafted brews, as well as dining at Estella—a taco restaurant specializing in locally sourced ingredients and daily house-made masa tortillas and a mezcal bar in an unexpected urban setting. 

And how appropriate it is, knowing what originally opened in this very location was a hotel—the historic Royal Hotel. First opening in 1907 at this very location, The Royal Hotel went through a series of different owners and name changes in the decades following, though persevered as a hotel and temporary refuge for folks drawn to Reno in search of a quickie divorce. By 2001, the property transformed into the Reno Jazz Club, converted to the Lincoln Lounge bar a few years later, finally transforming back into a hotel as The Jesse Hotel & Bar in 2018.

The Jesse Hotel offers six guest rooms, offering a comfortable night’s stay in stylish suites that business and leisure travelers will appreciate. Each restored room in this historic property boasts luxurious custom made bed frames, exposed brick walls, hardwood floors, tiled bathrooms, and original artwork.

The bar at the Jesse is open to both hotel guests and anyone looking to grab a refined craft cocktail while exploring downtown Reno’s ever-changing urban environment. Grab seasonal craft cocktails, beer and wine, or drop in for a coffee or espresso and pie in the morning. 

The Jesse Bar is open daily offering bar services Wednesday – Saturday starting at 4pm and Estella at 5pm, and for Sunday Brunch from 10:30am-2:30pm. Forged Coffee Roasting Co operates is cafe at The Jesse Bar daily, offering locally-roasted  coffee beans, coffee and other drinks, and locally-made pie from Sugar Pie Reno.

Ready for one hell of a taco? Good, head for Estella Tacos y Mezcal—some of the best (if not the best) authentic street tacos and mezcal inspired cocktails in Reno. This lively, modern Mexican cantina specializes in delicious street tacos, salsas, assorted side dishes, mezcal, and mezcal-inspired cocktails, all while utilizing local ingredients from farms and ranches in northwestern Nevada. Best yet, Estella caters to dietary preferences, including vegetarian and gluten free options. Order up a Carnitas, Chicken Chirmol, Al Pastor or Smoked Mushroom taco, and wash it down with the 50/50: a handcrafted margarita made with half mezcal and half tequila for a Biggest Little City restaurant experience you won’t be forgetting anytime soon.

Parking and Getting There

The Jesse’s parking lot is conveniently located directly adjacent to the hotel on East 4th Street near the Freight House District and Greater Nevada Field in downtown Reno. Parking is for overnight hotel guests and patrons of the bar and restaurant.
