Pairing Old World distilling traditions with modern American technology, High Mark Distillery & Barrel House is more than just a distillery—it’s a bonafide, booze enthusiast’s sanctuary in northern Nevada. High Mark Distillery in Reno sets the bar for premium Nevada-born liquors. Specializing in farm-to-glass spirits such as their famous Apple Jack, which tastes like a slice of homemade apple pie, stop by High Mark Distillery for a personalized tasting and sample a range of handcrafted spirits, from American-style moonshine to single-grain vodka.

Trained in Ireland in distilling methods that have been passed down for generations, High Mark Distillery founder Felicia Keith-Jones is passionate about small-batch spirits. And since less than 1% of the world’s distillery owners are female, she also just happens to be a pioneer.

High Mark Distillery Spirits

High Mark Distillery produces several different spirits in a range of flavors, but one thing they all have in common is that they’re made with high-quality ingredients sourced from small American farms. Without a doubt, the pièce de résistance is the High Mark Apple Jack. Made from organic apples grown at Big Canyon Acres in Idaho, Apple Jack is 50 proof, yet tastes like baked apples sprinkled with cinnamon and brown sugar. If you want all the Apple Jack flavor without the full-throated punch, try Apple Jane, which is Apple Jack’s less potent, 25 proof little sister.

The Reno distillery also offers an American-style moonshine; the Blind Cat Moonshine, which is made from sweet corn grown right in the state of Nevada. And the High Mark Vodka is a premium, single grain liquor made from Silver State wheat. If you prefer something sweeter, try the Blueberry Cobbler Shine. A family recipe that’s bursting with berries and hints of vanilla, this tasty liquor is a fan favorite.
