Historic 1942 USO Building & Convention Center
The USO building opened in 1942 as place for servicemen and women to enjoy and social activities such as hometown dances and letter and card writing. One of only a few in the nation such surviving facility, it has been recently restored and it is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. After the war it became a community and recreation center as well as the Hawthorne Convention Center.
