Nevada Beach

With more than a half mile of stunning views of Lake Tahoe and the surrounding eastern Sierra Nevada mountains, it’s no surprise that Nevada Beach Campground is a fave summer and winter destination for visitors and locals alike. Nestled in native pine trees along a white sandy beach, picnicking and sightseeing are popular year round activities here, with camping, swimming, kayak rentals and food concessions available during the summer months. Almost hidden in plain sight, this quiet, public access beach location is your ideal adventure base camp when exploring South Lake Tahoe and surrounding areas.

Managed by the Lake Tahoe Basin U.S. Forest Service, Nevada Beach Campground offers dozens of campsites, available for tent and RV camping. Some are situated in wooded areas while others are more exposed. Each site is equipped with picnic tables, campfire rings and charcoal barbeque grills. Accessible flush toilets and drinking water are also available on-site, and pets are allowed on a leash in the campground and beach. Though campfires are allowed within metal fire rings within individual campsites, campfires and portable charcoal grills are not allowed on the beach.

Getting There

Nevada Beach Campground is situated on the east shore of Lake Tahoe, three miles north of Stateline Nevada off Elks Point Road. To get here, follow U.S. Highway 50 to Elks Point Road. Nevada Beach is on the lake side of the highway, about a ½ mile west of the intersection and the shopping center at Round Hill. If you’re staying in South Lake Tahoe and don’t have access to a vehicle, jump on the Lam Wateh Nature Trail to Nevada Beach with access nearest Kahle Drive. A great place to stretch your legs, this kid and dog friendly trail includes signage explaining the area’s natural history.
