Visitors can expect night sky programming that highlights constellations, planets, and deep-sky objects. Astronomy talks also explore the science behind Nevada’s dark skies and what makes places like Lahontan so rewarding for stargazers.
Lahontan State Recreation Area is one of the region’s standout places for astronomy and astrophotography thanks to low light pollution and wide-open viewing conditions. On clear nights, visitors may be able to spot celestial sights such as the Andromeda Galaxy, Orion Nebula, planets, and bright constellations.
To help preserve night vision during the event, red light is recommended. Flashlights may be converted at check-in when supplies are available.
