Burning Man has been cancelled in 2020. We look forward to welcoming you back in 2021!
Once a year, people by the tens of thousands gather in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert, transforming dry lake bed Playa into the state’s 10th largest town, Black Rock City, a temporary metropolis dedicated to community, art, self-expression, and self-reliance.
In Black Rock City, you won’t be the weirdest kid in the classroom and you’ll become a part of the growing community of Burners who are active year-round.
Burning Man is a practice in community, an annual gathering of 65,000 “Burners” who meet in the Black Rock Desert of Northern Nevada to create art, exchange ideas, and participate in the burning of the Man, a symbol whose meaning is as varied as the attendees themselves.
What is Burning Man?
To truly understand this event, one must particpate. However, click here for eloquent overview of this experimental community, which challenges its members to express and rely on themselves to a degree that is not normally encountered in one’s day-to-day life.
