Salt Flats Endurance Runs
Each year, ultra-marathoners from around the world head for the legendary Bonneville Salt Flats just east of West Wendover for the marathon of a lifetime. Racers will have their choice of 50k, 50 mile, and 100 mile distances set against one of the most barren landscapes on earth. No matter which distance you’re competing in, all courses begin at the Bonneville Salt Flats Speedway, and run the same section of Salt Flats that the land-speed records are set each year at Bonneville Speed Week. After 13 miles of salt and three miles of mud-flats, the runners connect up with the “Islands”, or mountain peaks that rise out of the salt and seem to float like islands on a white sea.
Set against one of the most iconic landscapes in the world, register for the super endurance race of a lifetime at this beloved West Wendover racing event.
No matter which course you choose, each route runs through distinctive landscapes brimming with natural features and history important to the American West. 50k runners will run out to the salt flats, then reverse the course for an exact 50k, where 50 mile and 100 mile runners will follow a course that lies along rolling hills and connects two and four significant climbs. 100-milers will even cross into Nevada where the Donner-Reed party left Utah on their way West through the Sierra Nevada Mountains to California. Once the races are over, head back into West Wendover for a weekend of luxury overnight accommodations, an impressive culinary lineup, live music and entertainment, and beyond.
