February 11, 2021 @ 8:00 am – February 15, 2021 @ 8:00 pm
Each February, filmmakers and film fans travel from all over the world to descend upon Boulder City’s Historic District to celebrate the art of short film. Over four days, the 17th annual Dam Short Film Festival will present more than 120 short films of all styles and genres at Nevada’s largest film festival. Launching February 11th, the Dam Short Film Society is taking the 2021 event online as a virtual event. Offering all the great qualities of past festivals, including excellent and diverse programming, the 2021 Festival is COVID-friendly and more accessible than ever before.
The Dam Short Film Festival brings its own heat with an outstanding lineup of masterfully crafted short films. But the Festival’s venue really bumps the event up into the next caliber of amazing.
Located in the heart of Boulder City’s Historic District, any visitor making their way under that landmark archway is sure to get a lasting dose of information on the city that built Hoover Dam.
The Dam Short Film Festival is grouped into thematic programs with a wide variety of subjects and styles, and awards are presented to Best Drama, Documentary, Animation, Comedy, Screenplay, Music Video and Sci-Fi/Horror. Furthermore, awards are distributed to Best Nevada Filmmaker, Student, Best of the Fest, and the Leslie Paige Award for Excellence in Short Filmmaking.
At the Dam Short Film Festival, the audience chooses the award members. After each screening, audience members receive a voting chip to cast their vote as favorite film of the program.
Dates, Admission & Getting There
The Dam Short Film Festival is scheduled to take place February 11-15, and takes place virtually. Boulder City is about 45 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip, and the Historic District is found directly along U.S. 93. Instead of continuing on to Lake Mead or Hoover Dam at the main intersection, go straight under the “Historic District” archway, which leads straight to the Boulder Dam Theater.
