Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-Off
Come hungry to one of the tastiest barbecue festivals in the country at the annual Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-Off. Every Labor Day weekend, Sparks closes Victorian Avenue to traffic as barbecue fans fill Victorian Square for ribs, live music, vendors, kids’ activities, and one of the largest grilling competitions in the nation.
Drawing top pitmasters, barbecue competitors, and rib teams from around the country (and sometimes as far away as Australia), the Nugget Rib Cook-Off serves up every kind of rib and barbecue style imaginable, along with sizzling sides, sweet treats, drinks, and vegetarian options.
Jaws drop over (and for) the 250,000 pounds of ribs that are cooked up in fierce competition for prize money and bragging rights at the Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-Off.
In addition to barbecue, vendors and an action-packed kids’ zone keep the entertainment coming. Beloved bands and musicians also take the stage throughout the event for free concerts.
