International Camel & Ostrich Races—Cancelled
September 11, 2020 @ 2:00 pm – September 13, 2020 @ 4:00 pm
The International Camel and Ostrich Races is cancelled in 2020. We look forward to welcoming you back in 2021!
Camels, ostriches and zebras, oh my!
Some peculiar critters have made their yearly pilgrimage to Virginia City over the past six decades to be part of the International Camel and Ostrich Races, an hilarious annual Comstock tradition that’ll have you bursting with laughter in this all-out gut-buster of zany antics now celebrating 61 years!
This uniquely Nevada event dates back to the 1950s and features jockeys precariously perched on their beasts as they maneuver the track at high speeds, aiming for a win among the cheering audience in the historic, storied mining town of Virginia City.
A comical family-friendly racing spectacle, the International Camel and Ostrich Races includes a carnival-like midway with vendors and treats for everyone!
You can even catch a ride on a camel—a photo-op not to be missed!
Returning for 2020 is Hot Camel Nights, a special Friday evening performance with all of the fun and laughs of the day races.
Continuing from last year, choose from shaded seating options and a VIP experience that allows you to see the entire racing action. Sunday is Dolan Automotive Family Day with free camel rides for the first 100 kids.
