Led by amateur astronomer and poet Tony Berendsen, past president of the Northern Nevada Science Coalition, Tahoe Star Tours thoughtfully blend art and science to captivate the minds of curious participants. Each evening begins with a lively astronomy talk before attendees take in views of the starry sky through professional Celestron telescopes and binoculars. Telescope operator KC Rodrigue guides guests through the vast and awe-inspiring solar system revealed before their eyes.
Tahoe Star Tours take place all summer long at the Cosmoarium at both Spooner Lake & Backcountry State Park and Northstar Resort California. In addition to scheduled tours available to the public, Tahoe Star Tours offers private group events by advance registration. Hours:
Tahoe Star Tours’ season runs from mid-June through September. Tours are typically offered on Thursdays and Saturdays beginning at 8:30 p.m. and ending at 10:30 p.m. All tours are offered weather and conditions permitting.
Admission:
Tahoe Star Tours tickets are $50 for adults and $30 for children ages 4-12 (ages 3 and under are free). Advance reservations are required. Guests can also participate in a Celestron binocular tour for an additional $10 per person. This experience is open to the first 10 people to reserve in advance. Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome.
Discounts are available for active-duty military members and seniors ages 65 and up. A 10% discount is offered to Epic pass holders for stargazing events at Northstar California Resort.
