As modern as Reno feels these days, it still proudly marches cattle down its main drag to the Livestock Events Center for ten days of PRCA-sanctioned bull riding, steer wrestling, barrel racing, and entertainment, as it has every June for more than a century. More than 140,000 rodeo fans descend upon the Biggest Little City in the World to watch ropers, riders, and racers go head-to-head in a series of action-packed events at one of Nevada’s largest and oldest rodeos.

Reno’s cowboy culture lives on at the century-old, weeklong, all-pro Wildest, Richest Rodeo in the West.

The fourth richest rodeo tour in the nation, every Reno Rodeo kicks off with a 300-head cattle drive that goes from Winnemucca Ranch and through northwestern Nevada’s wide-open terrain before filling city streets lined with cheering fans. What follows is 10 action-packed days full of Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association competitors battling it out for hundreds of thousands of dollars in prize money. Bull riding, steer wrestling, saddle bronc, team roping, and bareback riding are just some of the events happening every day during the Reno Rodeo.

There’s plenty of family fun at the Reno Rodeo, too. Mutton busting is an all-ages favorite, and the Special Kids’ Rodeo invites children and young adults (under the age of 18) with physical and mental exceptionalities to experience the cowpoke way of life firsthand. The Wild Pony Races see teams of three kids between 8-14 years old compete, and everyone goes wild for the Clydesdale exhibition.

A carnival, kick-off concert, western marketplace, the crowning of Miss Reno Rodeo, and tons more make the Reno Rodeo a can’t-miss experience. For the complete schedule of events, ticket purchases, and parking information, visit Reno Rodeo’s website.
