Immersing yourself in Lamoille Canyon and Ruby Mountains on two wheels is the name of the game at this long standing Nevada cycling event. Formerly the Ride Around the Rubies, this beloved gravel ride is back and better than ever as the Ruby Roubaix: Gravel Fondo. A quick 30 minutes from downtown Elko, riders from all over Nevada—and the West—descend upon the tiny town of Lamoille for 20, 36, 62 or 117-mile courses composed of a mix of gravel and pavement through some of Nevada’s most iconic terrain.

From spectacular scenery, to vast expanses of lightly traveled roads, challenging terrain, and a healthy dose of small-town hospitality, discover all the elements for great gravel racing right here in the heart of northeastern Nevada.

New to the gravel riding scene? Also known as gravel grinding or adventure riding, gravel riding is a form of cycling that combines road and mountain bike terrain. Courses are mostly distance rides over unpaved roads, and take the sport of cycling to the next level with exhilarating discoveries around every turn. With routes ranging from mild to wild, the event is fondo-style— it’s up to the rider to decide whether the Ruby Roubaix is a ride or a race.

Depending on the route selected, the Ruby Roubaix: Gravel Fondo begins in Lamoille, south through Jiggs, NV, up and over Harrison Pass, through Ruby Valley and the Ruby Marsh, up through Secret Pass, and back to Lamoille. Typically held each June, all riders will begin at the Old Lamoille Schoolhouse for a mass start, with awards for the top three finishers in each category. Full support is offered throughout each route, including first aid stations with water, snacks, restrooms, and emergency services.
