Local libations and regionally sourced cuisine are on the menu for the annual Sample the Sierra food and wine festival this September. The region’s only farm-to-fork fair celebrating homegrown food, wines, spirits and brews gives local businesses the opportunity to participate in the growing foodie culture of the Lake Tahoe region.

This event brings together local restaurants with neighboring growers/producers to turn out scrumptious samples craftily paired with the appropriate wine or brew all from the Sierra Nevada region. The festival marketplace features locally crafted goods and the annual Sierra Chefs Challenge entertains food lovers with an iron-chef style challenge featuring the three of the best chefs in the Sierra Nevada cooking with locally sourced ingredients and preparing delicious meals that the audience has the opportunity to taste!

The weekend is full of festivities for the whole family including farm tours, music, live entertainment, and art. A collaborative effort between TahoeChamber.orgTahoe South and El Dorado County, and featured on CNN, Sample the Sierra celebrates the bounty and the heritage of the Sierra Nevada region. The festival aims to build flourishing partnerships within the county, as well as promoting its geo-tourism assets.
