Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival
July 3, 2020 @ 4:30 pm – August 29, 2020 @ 7:00 pm
The Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival is cancelled in 2020. We look forward to welcoming you back in 2021!
Experience classic Shakespearean theater outdoors the way it was meant to be at Sand Harbor State Park on Lake Tahoe’s East Shore. Each summer, the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival brings dramatic theater seven nights a week to an exceptional setting at majestic Lake Tahoe, “The Jewel of the Sierra.”
This year’s stage features are Mama Mia! and Much Ado About Nothing.
The smash-hit feel-good musical Mama Mia! takes place on a tiny Greek island, where Sophie is making final preparations for her wedding day in paradise. Little does her mother Donna know that Sophie’s last minute preparations include sleuthing out who her father may be among three possible candidates that she’s secretly invited. The story-telling magic of pop-hit songs propels this enchanting tale of love, laughter, family and friendship…which concludes with a trip down the aisle that you’ll never forget!
Much Ado About Nothing, an original William Shakespeare comedy, is a battle of wits and wills between Beatrice and Benedick, who would rather exchange scorching insults than sweet nothings. However, the pugnacious pair is forced to forge a partnership in order to defend house and honor, and salvage the true love of Hero and Claudio after deceptions destroy the lovers’ wedding day. Will the earnest endeavor to restore a young romance elicit an unexpected change of heart for the effort’s unlikely collaborators as well?
The Warren Edward Trepp Stage hosts traditional outdoor Elizabethan theater overlooking one of the world’s most beautiful alpine lakes.
