If we know of long-term access issues or closures that may affect your future visit, we’ll post them here β€” along with links to the best resources for information and real-time updates regarding short-term situations, weather/environmental incidents, and other temporary travel impediments.

Short-Term Travel Alerts

Nevada State Parks

  • Due to a severe winter, several Nevada State Parks are currently closed or offering limited access.
  • Get the latest info here.

Long-Term Travel Alerts

  • In the summer of 2022, Death Valley National Park experienced extreme, record rainfall and flooding (read about the “DEVA Deluge” here), which resulted in multiple road closures and ongoing changes to park access. For the most current park conditions and updates, click here.
  • In October of 2021, lake access at Cave Lake State Park temporarily closed to the public for construction to restore Cave Creek Dam. The lake was completely drained. While the campground is open, access to the lake will remain closed due to unsafe shoreline conditions and other safety concerns until the project is complete. Check here for updates.
  • Due to more than 20 years of drought, Lake Mead’s water levels are at a historic lowβ€”a situation that affects boaters, beachgoers, and other recreation seekers. Monitor current Lake Mead site and boat ramp closures, safety alerts, and water levels here.
  • Many South Lake Tahoe destinations remain impacted by the 2021 Caldor Fire. Visitors recreating within all wilderness and recreation areas surrounding South Lake Tahoe should remain vigilant and aware of weather conditions by checking with local authorities before heading into the backcountry, and always obtain the necessary permits related to their activity.

#fbf for this postcard-worthy day at redrockcanyonlv. This was just after I sliced my ankle to pieces on the cog and FaceTimed nurse_catchit instead of going to the doctor. #oops I now have a gnarly scar to always remember this trip by. There’s never a bad day in this park, and I’ll be back in September. Hopefully with less injuries and a few climbing ropes this time. Found our favorite mural today on a walk around Reno's Midtown district! I love how walkable this city is - especially with a stroller! We spent the whole day exploring and didn't have to use our car once πŸ™πŸΌ

Still about a month away from being able to see the galactic core but now is a good time to start shooting because temps are still cool and now I am seeing more of the gas clouds. Stars will be tact sharp because of almost zero atmospheric distortion from heat. About 9pm last night, 51 deg, and a rain shower just passed through the area so it smelled nice. The mercury vapor street light added a nice green glow to the buildings. It was nice to hangout at an abandoned ghost town, by myself, in the dark……
