• Infrastructure projects will cause short-term disruptions at Great Basin National Park, including campground closures, reduced parking and operating hours at Lehman Caves Visitor Center, and reduced Lehman Caves tours. The majority of Great Basin National Park remains open and accessible for visitors. Updates will be posted on Great Basin National Park’s website.

Long-Term Travel Alerts

• At Cave Lake State Park, Cave Creek Dam repairs have been completed. It will take an estimated nine months for Cave Lake’s water level to return to pre-project levels. Once construction equipment is fully removed, Cave Lake will reopen for public use. Cave Lake State Park remains open, as do campgrounds and trails (except for the Steptoe Creek Trail and day-use restrooms). Visit Cave Lake State Park’s website for the latest project updates.
• While Echo Canyon Reservoir has been drained for dam maintenance, Echo Canyon State Park remains fully operational and continues to welcome visitors through the project’s duration. Visit Echo Canyon State Park’s website for the latest project updates.
• The majority of trails, campgrounds, and picnic areas in Spring Mountains National Recreation Area (which includes Mt. Charleston) are open, but some closures remain due to 2023 flash flood damage. In Lee Canyon (State Route 156), the Upper Bristlecone Trailhead and Trail is closed. In Kyle Canyon (State Route 157), the following trails/trailheads are also closed: Mary Jane Falls, Trail Canyons, and Cathedral Rock. Echo Road and Powerline Access Road are inaccessible as well. In Deer Creek Canyon (State Route 158), Deer Creek Picnic Area is closed with no current plans to rebuild. The latest updates will be provided through the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest and Go Mt. Charleston.
