Ready to create some of your own 4×4 lore? Load up the dirt bikes, side-by-sides, quads, and OHVs, and head for one of the best off-highway vehicle trail systems in the Silver State. Nearly 1,000 miles of dirt roads and trails beckon off-roaders from near and far to Hawthorne, NV and the broader Mineral County area for some of the best off-roading adventure routes in the region, touring legendary fishing holes, historic ghost towns and mining camps, petroglyph sites, wildlife viewing and many other places only accessible by 4×4 or UTV. 

Managed by Nevada Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the US Forest Service, hit the Mineral County OHV Trails to explore Fletcher and the Walker State Recreation Area, Mina, Aurora and Bodie Ghost Towns, Wild Horse Canyon, Poinsettia Mining Camp, Walker Lake, Powell Canyon, and many more locations in the Hawthorne region. Know Before You Go

When traveling Nevada backroads, be sure to live by the Dirt Road Code. Carry plenty of snacks and water, be sure to let someone know where you’re headed and when you plan to return, and practice Leave No Trace methods whenever possible. Before you hit the dirt, make sure your off-highway vehicle is equipped with a spark arrestor and registered, and don’t forget to be considerate of other trail users.
