There’s fun for the entire family to be found in every corner of the Silver State. Treat toddlers, teens, and every age level in between to unique adventures that’ll get them hands-on with historic trains, mountain bikes, and furry friends.

Kids (and kids at heart) will delight over these Nevada-centric presents and experiences.

Scenic Railway Rides

Boulder City, Carson City, Ely & Virginia City

Without the railroad, Nevada wouldn’t be the Silver State we know and love. Reserve a ride on one of five working historic railroads around the state. All offer tours with stunning vistas on authentic cars pulled by original locomotives as well as seasonally themed train rides. The Nevada Northern Railway also offers opportunities to “Be the Engineer” and partake in Hands On History experiences.

“Annie Alexander’s Amazing Adventure: An American Fossil Expedition in Nevada”

Reno

Written by Nevada Museum of Art curator Ann M. Wolfe and illustrated by Nevada-based artist Kate O’Hara, “Annie Alexander’s Amazing Adventure: An American Fossil Expedition in Nevada” is a children’s book detailing the adventures of Annie Alexander who, in 1905, joined an expedition to Nevada’s Humboldt Range in search of fossils. During the trip, her team excavated 25 ichthyosaur specimens, some of which were the largest and most complete of their kind ever discovered in North America.

Water Park Season Passes

Sparks, Las Vegas & Henderson

Winter won’t last forever. Stuff stockings for the future with season passes to Nevada’s water parks. In Sparks, Wild Island is a tangle of slides from mild to wild thrills, plus multiple splash areas and playgrounds for toddlers and children. Las Vegas is home to a duo of water parks: Cowabunga Canyon in Summerlin and Cowabunga Bay in Henderson. Both have wave pools, lazy rivers, and dedicated kids’ areas.
