Family Adventure Quiz

Family Adventure Quiz Results

What’s better than one Silver State adventure? A whole bunch of ‘em! See all six of our quiz results to fill this summer – and beyond – with endless amounts of family-friendly, only-in-Nevada experiences.

Silence

Surround Yourself in Silence!

Escape the daily hustle and bustle of everyday life and treat your family to some true rest and relaxation. Spend a night stargazing under some of the darkest (and quietest) skies in the Lower 48 at Great Basin National Park, or find serenity in some incredible Nevada State Parks, where you might just have the entire place to yourself. Gemfield is a geological wonderland just off the beaten path with A++ rockhounding, and the Rubies Route is all but guaranteed to get you off the grid and into some wide-open wilderness.

Adventure

It’s Adventure Time!

Have some fun in the sun – and under the stars! Pack up the car and head outside of the Silver State’s major metros to bask in the outta-this-world stargazing provided by some of the darkest skies in the Lower 48. Nevada’s daylight views are pretty incredible, too, especially from the sweeping vistas and towering peaks you’ll discover on thousands of miles of trails (with hiking options for every level of adventurer). We also think you’ll dig the opportunity to go rockhounding for turquoise, garnets, and Virgin Valley black fire opal, our state gemstone. We could go on and on, but trust us – adventure is out here, and eagerly awaiting you.

Weird & Wild

Welcome to Weird Nevada!

Here in the Silver State, our quirks are our perks – and if you’ve landed here, you love oddball attractions as much as we do. A stop (or a stay!) at The Clown Motel is a must, as it’s home to literally thousands of clowns AND next door to a historic (and allegedly haunted) cemetery. You can search for signs of alien life along the Extraterrestrial Highway, and even attempt to make contact via the Black Mailbox. Speaking of otherworldly, take a nature walk to the kaleidoscopic Fly Geyser, an accidentally man-made geyser that looks transplanted from another planet. No matter which Weird Nevada adventure ends up calling your name, you’re guaranteed to experience memory-making magic.

Road Trip

Hit the Highway!

Tunes up, windows down – there’s nothing like cruising the open road! A good ol’ fashioned road trip is your ticket to endless adventure, and anything but ordinary when you let the stars decide which route you take. And with oodles of only-in-Nevada overnighters, you can keep the fun going all night long by bunking in a castle, a clown motel, or even a train caboose. Let one (or all!) of our 10 favorite road trips inspire you, or pick a new-to-you city and point the car in that direction. Don’t forget to send us a postcard!

History & Heritage

Get Carried Away with Culture!

The Silver State has a fascinating history, and it’s best experienced through hands-on, only-in-Nevada adventures! Travel back in time with a visit to Virginia City, where you’ll instantly be immersed in the Wild West atmosphere of the Comstock Lode era. Speaking of mining, the still-standing ruins of so many boom-and-bust mining ghost towns are equally enchanting – Rhyolite is a popular favorite! You’ll wanna pack an appetite for learning about Basque culture in Nevada, too, best enjoyed over delicious family-style feasts in historic boarding houses. And field trips are way more fun when you’ve got museums like ours – specializing in everything from pinball machines and the Atomic Age to vintage neon and a million dollar courthouse.

On the Water

Make a Splash!

Nothing beats the heat like getting on the water! Make Laughlin your home base for all kinds of activities on the Colorado River, including boating, jet skiing, fishing, swimming, and tour cruising. Up north, the beauty of Lake Tahoe is even more awe-inspiring when you paddle through those crystal-clear waters on a transparent Clearly Tahoe Kayak Tour. Take advantage of the poolside paradises offered at five-star resorts in Las Vegas and Reno, or go more off-the-grid with a natural hot spring soak.

Why travel the world, when you can go to Las Vegas and see it all? 🤷🏻‍♀️😆 and if you’re going to see Vegas, there is no better way than in a helicopter 🚁 Swipe across for a glimpse into our sunset flight over the strip with iflypapillon #sponsored #iFlyPapillon
.
The kids will tell you this was their fave activity during our visit to the City and it’s super affordable! Prices start at $85 each for adults and $75 each for the kids! It was cheaper to do this than see the show we wanted to see 🙈 and we had free champagne 🥂They had me at ‘Free Champagne’ 😂
.
And yes, that’s an actual rollercoaster inside a hotel 😂 #onlyinvegas (our kids were not tall enough to ride this, but there is a pretty cool arcade right next to the entrance of this that will totally help you avoid meltdowns 🙈) More to come on visiting Las Vegas with kids! 👀
I've never considered myself a lake girl. ⠀
⠀
Growing up in the Midwest we had lots of lakes. I enjoyed playing in them as most kids do but I never loved it. I did not like that I couldn't see the bottom and I hated the feeling of the fish and plants drifting around my legs. ⠀
⠀
But if the lakes of my childhood were like this I would definitely reconsider. Lake Tahoe gets me every time. With that crystal clear blue water against that mountainous backdrop I start to rethink the lakes of my youth. If this was the lake of my childhood I would definitely be a lake girl!⠀

Very fond memories of when Sue the T. rex so graciously welcomed visitors to The Discovery. We miss our visitors and we miss Sue! #stayhomefornevada
Epic views of the strip from our room fslasvegas 👀 From the other side of our room we could see over the Mojave Desert and mountains 🏜 #sponsored .
The Vegas strip isn’t a normal street with normal hotels, these buildings are massive attractions and you can walk miles around and between just a few of them 🙈 Walking around Vegas is time consuming and tiring, which can become very uncomfortable in the blistering heat, so where you choose to stay can make a big difference, especially if you have kids!
.
The Vegas sign is a 15 minute walk from fslasvegas 😱 which was a breeze in Jan with the cooler temps. It is the closest hotel to the famous sign and has access to the best transport links in the City, which are FREE! We’ve stayed on the other side and other end of the strip in the past, which only has access to the chargeable monorail service. It is still a brilliant transport link, but we found that we had to spend quite a bit of money every day, just to reach the shops, restaurants, attractions and other hotels.
.
While the Four Seasons is next to some of the most iconic hotels on the strip so you’re never far from the action, it’s also right at the start, so it enjoys a quiet position without hundreds of people piling through the door, just to get to the next hotel 🙌🏼
.
Let’s not forget to mention waking up to this mouth watering breakfast delivered to our room #WakeUpWithFS 🤤 for those days you don’t want to leave the room at all 😆

We went on a beautiful hike up to a waterfall today. It’s so surprising how many beautiful places there are to see in our area in Nevada.

We are having a blast exploring this area and we are really appreciating our time here. I wish more things were open for us to explore but it’s nice to find little jewels like this place.

Our transition into fulltime RVing hasn’t been difficult to our surprise. The boys are really enjoying all of the outdoor time and we’re exploring everyday! We are excited to see where our path takes us next!
Found our favorite mural today on a walk around Reno's Midtown district! I love how walkable this city is - especially with a stroller! We spent the whole day exploring and didn't have to use our car once 🙏🏼
