Tahoe Hikes

They call it the “Jewel of the Sierra Nevada,” and once you’ve seen it… you get it. Vast, crystal-clear, and encircled by towering peaks and forest-blanketed mountain wonderlands—all crisscrossed by hundreds of miles of pristine hiking trails—Lake Tahoe is a hiker’s paradise. With meadows bursting with wildflowers, alpine lakes and streams, and million-dollar views of Lake Tahoe around every bend, it’s no surprise that Tahoe hikes peak the interest of hikers from all over the globe.

With thousands of hiking trails at your toe-tips, ranging from easy front-country ambles—like the brand-new, waters-edge East Shore Trail—to way-off-grid, multi-day backpacking trips, or even no-hassle, gondola-accessed ski resort walks to a bird’s-eye view of the lake, sublime hiking awaits from South Lake Tahoe all the way to Mt. Rose. Come see what the #Nevadaside is all about.

#FunFactFriday: Did you know that ponderosa pines are known to smell like vanilla and butterscotch? Scientists believe that this sweet scent comes from a chemical in the sap, that when heated by the sun releases the aroma. Next time you find yourself hiking through these towering trees, try it out for yourself! Follow your nose to find a #ponderosa, or look for the trees with the thick reddish bark and long pine needles. A tree that has been exposed to the sun will have the strongest scent.

Happy Memorial Day!!! 🇺🇸 I hope everyone has a fun and safe day! I’m heading out to Sedona, Arizona today to car camp for a week 🏜

I spent my Memorial Day Weekend hiking A LOT! I started this hike at 4:30am and watched the sun rise over Las Vegas ☀️ In 4-5 hours I did 7.4 miles with 2,000ft of elevation gain! For me being out of shape from a month or two of not hiking, I’m happy to be jumping right back into it 💪

The rail-trail offers panoramic views of the Lake Mead. The trail leads to five railroad tunnels on its way toward Hoover Dam.
After the dam was completed in 1935, the railroad ceased operation, and in 1962 the tracks were removed; the trail opened in 1995.

Great Basin is incredible! Even more so for how remote it is... you really have to make an effort to get here. We hiked about 4 miles total, no joke at over 10,000 feet elevation.
